“You’re never gonna find that person.” “You’re never gonna be beautiful.” “You’re not going to find God.” “That life doesn’t exist.” “This is the world we live in.” And there are so many other negative and discouraging phrases the lost people around us are trying to feed us.
Of course we know better, don’t we? Or do we?
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” (1 John 3:1) God loves us, and we can also be confident that if God has a person out there for us, he/she will love us like Jesus.
“You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.” (Song of Songs 4:7) God specifically designed each of us to be the way we are; we are God’s masterpieces. He lovingly made us. And the only One Whose say matters declares it, you are beautiful.
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” (Matt. 7:7) If you ask God to help you live totally for Him and seek Him with all your heart, you will know Him and live that God-centered life. Keep your eyes on Him.
“And this is what he promised us—eternal life.” (1 John 2:25) And we can already feel it coursing through our veins by the Holy Spirit inside of us. We can start living that sold out for God life right now.
“They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.” (John 17:16) That might be the world we live in, but it’s not the world we’re a part of. As Christians, washed in Jesus’ blood, we don’t belong to the world anymore than Jesus Himself does. And we have the hope of God’s kingdom, where we do belong.
I suppose the real question is: why do we so often listen to directions from people who are lost, instead of focusing totally on the One Who found us? “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” (John 14:6) He gives us hope and shows us the right paths though we walk through this dark world. He is our light.
Pray to the Lord a prayer of thanksgiving, praise, and excitement that He truly has everything under control and is so utterly perfect.
There’s even more than this in God’s Word, if we will only look for it. 🙂
